Kinsale Spirit – Great Earl

Tasting Notes:

  • Eye: Mid-golden color with a hint of ruby red.
  • Nose: Sweet, candy-like. Vanilla and cask influence, woody. Buttery/marzipan.
  • Taste: Sweet, ripe blackberry and honey. Hint of tartness, a little elderberry. Hint of white pepper spice.
  • Finish: Creamy mouth feel: coats the mouth nicely. Mid-bodied. Decent length, strong.

Additional Notes:

  • The whiskey is named in honor of Hugh “The Great Earl’ O’Neill, a celebrated general.
  • Leaving Ireland in the Flight of the Earls in 1607, he died in Rome nine years later, where he is still buried and immoratalised in a fresco in Vatican City.
  • Hugh O’Neill was a friend to kings, popes, and leaders.
  • The whiskey is triple-casked. Casked in Rechar and Virgin oak, then finished in Italian Sangiovese casks.
